Standardisation – General (All Levels)

It is a mandatory requirement that an appropriate representative from a centre attends an Agored Cymru standardisation event every 2 years

Standardisation events are aimed at:

  • Quality Managers
  • Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) staff
  • Staff with key responsibilities within centre quality assurance policy and practice.

The event focuses on the best practice of quality assurance processes and aims to promote consistency in the way that Agored Cymru qualifications are assessed and internally quality assured.

Attendees must be active, qualified and experienced IQA’s or have attended Agored Cymru‘s ‘Internal Quality Assurance’ course. They will also need to be able to share information and implement good practice within their own organisation.

Pre-course task: Prior to the event, attendees should reflect on your own centre IQA strategy and identify the key points within this strategy. Reflect on your organisational expectations regarding the implementation of internal, centre based standardisation. Attendees will need to bring their current centre IQA strategy with them and be prepared to discuss this within the session.

Attendees will be required to access and print (or download onto your personal device) key documentation from the Agored Cymru website in preparation for the event. Documents may include:

  • Learner assessment samples
  • IQA template
  • Standardisation feedback form

The focus for standardisation events is not around assessment practice but specifically targets IQA practice.

To address the need for representation from a variety of centres and to ensure that centres who are required to attend a standardisation event have representation, in cases where there is a high demand, we reserve the right to limit the number of places per centre to 2.

This event is for tutors/assessors and internal verifiers who deliver and/or internally verify in the specified subject area.

 Centres due to attend this event must submit (to Laura Upton at the Agored Cymru Llanishen office) a legible sample of learners’ work at least 4 weeks prior to the date of the event. All samples presented must have been through the internal verification process and must include:

  • copies of completed assessments and supporting evidence (where possible these should be anonymous);
  • records of pre-course internal verification;
  • records of mid-course/end-of-course internal verification;
  • a copy of the relevant unit.

Centres that deliver QCF qualifications in the specified subject area must submit a sample of the work from these qualifications. Centres may choose which sample to submit to Agored Cymru but the sample must include all the requested information.

Please note: do not send original copies as samples will not be returned.

For further information about this event then contact Laura Upton- Quality Assurance Officer on 02920 747866 or laura.upton@agored.org.uk.
