The learner will The learner can
1. Be able to demonstrate safe working practices.
1.1 Identify and locate safety signs, fire exit, fire alarm, protective clothing and first aid box.
1.2  Use tools safely.
1.3  Use materials safely.
1.4  Select and wear appropriate clothing and safety equipment for tasks, safety boots, gloves, eye protectors, face/dust mask, overalls.
1.5  Lift and carry tools and materials according to the institution's code of safe working practice.
1.6  Clean and tidy work area.
1.7  Clean and store tools and materials after use and dispose of rubbish appropriately.
1.8  Identify and locate first aid box.
1.9  Follow emergency fire and accident procedures.
2. Be able to recognise fundamental working relationships.
2.1 Identify line management.
2.2  Discuss the importance of interacting courteously with others.
2.3  Convey simple messages to colleagues and staff.
2.4  Respond and comply with simple instructions.
