1. Understand practical processes involved in accessing the internet.
1.1 Access the www and explore a minimum of three different web sites e.g. One corporate, one business and one private.
2. Identify and discriminate between good and bad web page design.
2.1 Discuss the perceived quality of given sites in terms of navigation, ease of use and consistent design.
2.2 List the criteria for planning and building a web site in respect of ease of use, navigation, style, consistent design.
3. List the various file formats and image attributes required to incorporate images on the www.
3.1 List the differences between JPG (JPEG), GIFF, PNG etc. and identify their appropriate usages.
4. Create an HTML document using web design software, eg. Macromedia Dreamweaver.
4.1 Change text colour, font styles and heading size.
4.2 Experiment with background colours and images.
4.3 Add images and adjust size, location, border.
4.4 Create tables and format cells, columns and rows.
4.5 Create text and image links.
4.6 Create a minimum of three 'named anchors' with links to them.
5. Create a simple web site 'home page'.
5.1 Produce a page design and structure plan for a web site.
5.2 Create a Home Page proposed by your design and plan incorporating a title, grid, text, images, colour, background colour or background image; links and anchors.
5.3 Save the Home Page to a hard-drive with a specific file reference.
5.4 Preview completed work using a web browser.
5.5 Make amendments if required, save the Home Page to, and re-test from, portable media.
6. Understand the Health and Safety implications of working with various materials.
6.1 Follow Health and Safety instructions.
