1.1 Explain the absolute parameters for the following pool chemistry
(i) free and combined chlorine
(ii) pH
(iii) water balance.
1.2 Accurately test the pool chemistry.
1.3 Undertake the corrective action necessary if the pool water parameters are outside of the recognised standards.
1.4 Accurately measure and record temperature of air, water and humidity and explain the actions to be taken if outside safe parameters.
1.5 Follow the correct procedure to provide a sample of water for microbiology testing explaining the importance of non-contamination, storage during transit and timescale.
1.6 Explain the absolute parameters for the total colony count and the presence of which organisms require immediate closure of the pool.
1.7 Identify the circumstances in which it may be necessary to empty or partially empty the pool.
2. Accurately maintain the Hydrotherapy Pool Weekly Record (NHS Trust Hydrotherapy Policy, Procedures and guidelines - Appendix G).

2.1 Provide evidence of accurate completion of forms over a period of one month.
2.2 Using examples explain when and why remedial action is required and your role in this process.
3. Maintain the pool, and its environs, including equipment, in order that it is safe for use following national health and safety legislation and the NHS Trust Hydrotherapy Policy, Procedures and guidelines.

3.1 Correctly vacuum, clean scum line and backwash.
3.2 Explain the factors that affect the frequency of backwashing.
3.3 Identify the equipment that requires weekly checks for cleanliness and repair.
3.4 Carry out required cleaning to an appropriate standard.
4. Explain the role of other departments/agencies/staff (internal and external) in relationship to your responsibilities for maintaining a safe hydrotherapy service.
