The units and qualifications are designed to suit the needs and priorities of individuals, communities, employers and national priorities in a modern Wales.

OCN Wales' range of products help people succeed where more traditional routes can fail and many units, as part of the Credit and Qualification Framework for Wales can be used towards qualifications.

OCN Wales offers its recognised centres opportunity to deliver effective lifelong learning, widen opportunity and enable progression within current education and training frameworks. The units and qualifications are credit-based, and flexible enough to reach learners in any setting – from schools to FE and from offender learning to learning in the workplace. “add value” as well as to recognise credit.

OCN units and NOCN Qualifications offer flexible opportunities for learners across a wide variety of sectors, for example by:

• Facilitating Individual learning plans.
• Allowing Achievement in small ‘bite size’ chunks.
• Providing a wide range of subject areas from preparation for life through to vocational subjects.
• Allowing assessment tailored to meet learner needs.

A wide range of units are available on the OCN website which can be supplemented by units from OCNs across England and Northern Ireland (contact your OCN contact for help). Where a suitable unit is not available new units can be written to “fill the gap”.
