We are currently developing ways to keep centres informed of progress and outline the content of new qualifications to allow better curriculum planning.  We will keep you in touch with developments

Using Welsh in the family (Entry and Level 1)

The aim of the proposed suite of qualifications is to develop the skills of parents/guardians who wish to support the children in their care to enhance or maintain their Welsh Language skills.

The qualifications will only be available in Welsh.

Using Welsh with small children in the workplace (entry and Level 1)

The aim of the proposed suite of qualifications is to develop the Welsh Language skills of staff working within the early years and child care sectors.

The qualifications will only be available in Welsh.

Wales: the country and it’s people (entry – Level 3)

This suite of qualifications are designed to improve learners knowledge and understanding of the culture of Wales.  Options include:  History of the Welsh Language, myths and legends, performing arts, sport, history, working environment, politics and much more.

Maintaining Welsh language skills – working title (Level 3 – 4)

A significant proportion of the Welsh speaking population elect not to use Welsh in a work or learning situation.  The aim of these qualifications is to improve learners confidence in their existing language skills and to improve written communication skills.  This will encourage application of these skills in learning and the workplace.

The qualifications will only be available in Welsh.

Working with families through early support (Level 4)

This training course is for everyone working in the Early Years sector and for families with a young disabled child. This course will help practitioners develop their own practice and their settings to become more inclusive for children with additional needs and disabilities.  It will also support practitioner and families to work in an Early Support context, using an approach consistent with the Early Support principles.

By the end of the course we expect participants will understand and be able to apply the principles and values of working inclusively and in partnership with families with disabled children and be able to understand the importance of parental knowledge about their disabled child. They will also be able to critically evaluate how a setting can provide developmentally appropriate learning opportunities through a play based curriculum for young disabled children. They will also be able to use reflection to challenge and develop existing practice in working with parents to support very young disabled children.

The qualifications will be available in English and Welsh.
