The Agored Cymru Level 1 Award in Introduction to Health and Social Care (adults and children and young people), early years and childcare has been developed with the Care Council for Wales to

promote health and social care as a career

- prepare people to work in the sector in Wales
It is made up of four mandatory units, all of which must be achieved.
Qualification target group
It is a course designed for anyone considering a career in health and social care.
It will provide pathways into the sector for school leavers, the unemployed, people returning to work after a career break or anyone else considering a career in health and social care.
Entry requirements
Learners must be:
- 14 years of age or over to achieve this qualification
Recognised Centres must notify Agored Cymru of their intention to deliver the qualification and have received a qualification information and/or briefing before delivery. Failure to notify Agored Cymru prior to the start of delivery may jeopardise the award of the qualification.
Delivery Languages

Agored Cymru recognised centres approved for sector 1.3 are able to offer this qualification.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
For this qualification, units can be recognised through an RPL process. Evidence can be utilised for learning outcome achievement or for whole unit achievement. There is no cap on the amount of RPL available within this qualification but all evidence must be internally and externally verified.
