1.	Explain the relationship between the basic hardware and software components of a computer system.

1.1	Identify the hardware components that make up a computer system and describe their role in terms of the input-process-output model.
1.2	Categorise software into system and application software.

2.	Describe the concept of different levels of storage and the more common backing storage devices.

2.1	Evaluate storage devices in terms of access time, storage capacity and cost.
2.2	Recommend a storage method for a given scenario and demonstrate an understanding of the needs of a small business computer user.

3.	Describe and evaluate the various peripherals currently available.

3.1	Describe peripherals in terms of type of mechanism, quality, volume, speed and cost.
3.2	Make, and fully justify, a realistic choice of a peripheral that meets the needs of a particular user.

4.	Explain the European Guidelines on Computing and Health and Safety Issues.

4.1	Clearly state the recommendations in the European guidelines on the working environment and the equipment used.
4.2	Clearly state the recommendations in the European guidelines on preferred working methods.

5.	Select, recommend and justify the purchase of a particular computer system.

5.1	Select and recommend a particular computer system for a given scenario; the choice should be suitable to meet their needs, in terms of price, performance and future requirements.
5.2	Explain any terminology clearly and concisely.
